The aerial unit integrates with the main camera department so overhead coverage matches ground units in look and grade.

Here is the short of it. We plan flights around the tropical weather: the rainy southwest monsoon from June to October brings gusty afternoon storm cells, so we schedule for calm morning air and target the cool dry season from November to February for the cleanest conditions. For each location we secure the Thailand Film Office permit, brief the assigned state coordinator and confirm airspace, airport-proximity and covered-site restrictions, delivering safe, fully insured aerial cinematography on schedule.

Here is the breakdown. Thailand gives an aerial unit some of Asia's most cinematic terrain. Phang Nga Bay and James Bond Island, made famous by the Bond film 'The Man with the Golden Gun', the limestone karsts of Krabi and Railay, the islands of Phi Phi and the long Andaman beaches all reward sweeping aerial moves, while inland the temple cities of Ayutthaya and Sukhothai and the mountains around Doi Inthanon give dramatic descents and tracking shots.

Here is what that looks like on the ground. Aerial operations are covered by CAAT, each aircraft must be registered with the NBTC, and flight near airports, state buildings, royal sites and certain temples is off-limits. Marine and national-park areas need Department of National Parks consent alongside the Thailand Film Office permit. With ATA carnets accepted, a deep pilot and operator base, and a cash rebates of up to 30% on qualifying Thai spend, shoots build their aerial unit within Thailand rather than importing crew and aircraft.
