SCENE 01 / DP SERVICES
Director of Photography Services
Experienced DPs for film, TV, commercials, and documentaries throughout Thailand.
Here is how this works in practice. A Director of Photography shapes the visual narrative of a production through creative decisions about lighting, camera movement, lens selection, and composition. Thailand's thriving production industry — one of Southeast Asia's most developed — and its extraordinary locations from Bangkok's temple-dotted skyline to the tropical islands of the Andaman Sea have attracted major global shoots, with local DPs bringing deep expertise in managing tropical light and varied environments.
Here is the short of it. We connect you with skilled Directors of Photography who know both the creative and practical demands of your production. Whether you are shooting at Thailand's set up studio facilities or on location in Chiang Mai, our team matches your project with DPs who bring the right visual sensibility, supported by the Thailand Film Office and gear from rental houses like White Light and VGI.

On Location
Our roster of Directors of Photography spans Bangkok's commercial-driven cinematographers, Chiang Mai documentary specialists and DPs who have shot features across the Andaman coast, Phang Nga Bay and the UNESCO cities of Ayutthaya and Sukhothai.
Here is how this works in practice. We match a Director of Photography to your production by genre, format and the specific demands of the Thai locations on your schedule. Thailand's deep, Bangkok-centred crew base means a DP arrives with a complete camera department already in place — focus pullers, loaders and DITs who have worked together on TVCs, features and long-form documentary.
Here is the short of it. Our DPs draw on ARRI Alexa, Sony Venice and RED packages from set up rental houses such as White Light and VGI, and they plan around the tropical light: the hard overhead sun of the hot season demands tight call sheets, golden-hour blocking and negative fill, while the cool dry season from November to February gives the cleaner, more workable skies most global shoots target.
Here is the breakdown. For shoots that move from a Bangkok studio to a Khao Sok rainforest interior, the DP carries lighting and grip scene matching across each unit so the look holds. We also set up work permits and a Thailand Film Office facilitation for global DPs joining a Thai crew. Brief them on the cash-rebates records that rewards engaging Thai heads of department.
Here is what that looks like on the ground. Thailand gives a Director of Photography a top range within short travel distances. Bangkok alone delivers the gilded geometry of the Grand Palace, Wat Arun on the Chao Phraya River, the neon density of Yaowarat and a glass-tower skyline that has carried shoots from 'The Hangover Part II' to 'Only God Forgives'.
Here is how the picture comes together. Beyond the capital, the limestone karsts of Krabi and Railay, the islands of Phi Phi and the jungle ridges of Doi Inthanon give a cinematographer dramatic natural contrast, and Thailand's long history of doubling for Vietnam and Cambodia widens the creative brief further. Productions shoot under a permit from the Thailand Film Office. A state coordinator may be assigned to liaise with provincial authorities and covered sites — temple complexes in specific need respectful framing, as Theravada Buddhism and the monarchy are held in deep public regard. A cash rebates of up to 30% on qualifying Thai spend, with uplifts for Thai cast and crew, makes building a big local camera department around your DP both creatively and commercially sound.
FAQ
Our DP Network
What experience levels of DPs do you provide?
Here is the breakdown. We give DPs across all experience levels: emerging cinematographers for indie and low-budget projects, mid-level DPs with solid commercial and documentary credits, and senior DPs with feature film and global broadcast experience. We match experience to your budget and project needs.
How do you match DPs to projects?
We review your creative brief, reference materials, and budget to shortlist DPs with relevant genre experience and aesthetic alignment. You receive curated showreels and can request direct conversations with candidates before booking.
What camera systems do your DPs work with?
Here is what that looks like on the ground. Our DPs are proficient across all major cinema camera systems including ARRI Alexa, RED, Sony Venice, Blackmagic, and Canon cinema lines. Many specialize in specific systems but all are adaptable to production needs and rental availability.
Do DPs come with their own equipment?
Some owner-operator DPs bring personal camera packages, while others work with rented gear. We set up gear sourcing based on your preference and budget, whether through DP-owned gear, rental houses, or production-given gear.
Can you provide international DPs for shoots in Thailand?
Yes. We can source global DPs for shoots in Thailand, handling work permits and logistics. We also give Thai DPs for global shoots needing local cinematography talent abroad.
What's included in DP day rates?
Standard DP day rates cover on-set cinematography services during production hours. Pre-production work (tech scouts, shot listing, meetings) is mostly billed separately. Gear, camera assistants, and late hours are extra based on project scope.
